Chocolate Banana Cake Recipe

Here is a sugar-free chocolate banana cake recipe:

Ingredients

  • Ripe bananas (2 to 3)

  • Whole wheat or all-purpose flour (about 1 to 1 ¼ cup)

  • Cocoa powder (around ¼ to ½ cup)

  • Baking powder and baking soda (about 1 tsp each)

  • Eggs (2 large)

  • Natural sweeteners like dates or maple syrup (optional, a small amount for mild sweetness, or omit entirely)

  • Vegetable oil or coconut oil (about ¼ to ½ cup)

  • Dark chocolate pieces or chips (preferably 80% cacao or more, optional)

  • Vanilla extract and salt to taste

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and line a cake pan.

  2. Mash bananas until smooth.

  3. Whisk eggs with mashed bananas, oil, and vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.

  6. Add chopped dates or a little maple syrup if a slight sweetness is desired (can be omitted for strictly sugar-free).

  7. Fold in dark chocolate chips.

  8. Pour batter into the pan and bake for 45-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

  9. Cool before slicing.

This cake is moist, dense, and richly flavored by bananas and cocoa without any refined or added sugar. Dates or maple syrup provide natural sweetness if used, but the recipe can be adjusted for zero added sugar by relying solely on ripe bananas for sweetness.
